Project Overview:
Streaks are a popular feature in technology products for the gamification of habit creation. Users build a ‘streak’ by taking an action or group of actions at a regular cadence (i.e. daily, weekly). Users are typically awarded virtually in a way that grows as their streak does, and these rewards are often visible to others with whom they interact within the product. Streaks have proven to be an extremely retentive feature for products like Snapchat, Peloton, and most recently Wordle. Streaks work because they reward users for their investment/consistency and create product stickiness by reinforcing key behavior. Streaks work best when reinforcing core, realistic product behavior.
Problem
Users are not rewarded enough for participating in tournaments.
Users lack public recognition for their participation in tournaments.

Inspiration
I researched a few play-to-earn games to better understand how they onboard and education users on the play streak systems.
Reviewing current Information Architecture
Highlighted a few important moments and/or touch-points where users would learn or interact about the weekly streak feature.
Wireframes v1
Understanding positioning of the weekly streak feature. There are multiple areas where we needed to call attention.
Reminding players to keep their streak going (positioned on the home page of the app)
New log-in session, the weekly stream pop up banner appears to call out the player is actively in a playing streak, about to loose their stream or needs to play to earn a streak.
Wireframes v2
Further refinement of the experience. I worked with Content Design on various components to help introduce, guide and enforce the value of the weekly streak to players.
Visual Design
Created new UI components to support the weekly streak visuals. Then fire icon is a main visual cue along with it positioned within the tournament stats card.
